To strike against, smite, push, incite, drive forward, set in motion, urge on, impel, induce, instigate, stimulate, persuade or propel
... such is the definition of in the ancient Latin language.

Is encouragement what is missing in your life?

Hard to find encouragement, be inspired and have strength and a direction to move towards?

This website was created not just as a resource for famous sayings, well known quotes and wise advice but to help impel all of us towards excellence in character and motivate some of us that may feel like we have slowed down, stopped or that maybe even see ourselves as slipping back in reverse. Like someone climbing a steep hill that has to stop their car at a red light but then finds that the breaks can keep them from sliding backward.

Good character may promote a healthy mind and body. You can have great strength, fantastic discipline and wonderful character traits, as many men and women have demonstrated during their lives and yet lack security, peace and worse yet – be moving, but in the wrong direction or find later that you have been aiming for the wrong target or scored in the wrong goal.

In the English language the word impel means to drive, urge forward, press on, propel or impart motion to. If you want to get moving the famous quotes on will definitely help you get going, but if you want to know where to go and have something that no one can take away from you, then consider what Jesus said about himself:

“the Son gives life to anyone he wants” - John 5:21.

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life - John 5:24.

“My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” - John 10:10.

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. John 11:25.

Aristotle called God the immovable mover. Well if you are willing to accept it, really only The Immovable Mover can tell you where to move and what to set your goals on. The Old and New Testaments both demonstrate clearly to everyone that Jesus is both the means as well as the ends and repentance followed by inviting Him into your life is the only way to open the entrance gate for you to enter His eternal kingdom.

There is no box office where you can go buy this kind of a ticket. Only by faith is anyone able to accept Jesus’ words and His work on the cross and trust in Him for the payment He made for our sins. With Jesus the playing field is perfectly level and no one can elbow their way to get anything or get anywhere.

Jesus offers unmerited favor or grace - getting something for nothing.

No, let me correct myself: Getting everything, after deserving nothing - except for eternal condemnation, because of what each one of us has done by breaking God’s Law over and over again.

There is no life, and there can be no life, without the author of life: Jesus.
